Siberian Symphony Orchestra from Omsk is one of the largest orchestras in Russia.
It was founded in 1966 by the outstanding conductor Semyon Kogan, who managed to form a strong professional team and give it a good creative form in a fairly short period of time. In 1978, the team was headed by Viktor Tietz, under his management the orchestra reached artistic maturity, formed a broad repertoire. Over the years, the orchestra was headed by conductors A. Chistyakov, N. Dyadyura, V. Barsov, V. Mnatzakanov , E. Shestakov, E. Samoilov.

It`s staff includes more than 100 artists, experienced musicians who successfully embody diverse creative ideas.

The orchestra toured Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Morocco, USA. The following musicians performed with the orchestra: N. Petrov, M. Rostropovich, M. Pletnyov, D. Khvorostovsky, L. Isakadze, V. Tretyakov, A. Gindin, D. Matsuev, V. Repin, S. Stadler, D. Shafran, T. Grindenko, B. Berezovsky, V. Matorin, Kh. Gerzmava, N. Gutman, E. Virsaladze, P. Donohoe, A. Shilkloper, D. Bashkirov, A. Utkin, A. Buzlov, M. Lidsky, F. Kempf, P. Amoyan, S. Shoji.

Since 2005 the orchestra is led by Dmitry Vasilyev, an artistic director and chief conductor.

Under his leadership, a huge number of programs were formed, includung both classic works and large-scale canvases of composers of the XX century. Upon the initiative of D. Vasilyev, since 2008 New Music Festival is held in Omsk.

The general public has an opportunity to get acquainted with the works of S. Gubaidulina, A. Schnittke, A. Karamanov, A. Tchaikovsky, J. Heifetz, E. Podgaits, A. Klocek, M. Bronner, T. Shahidi, Yu. Kozulin, and other contemporary authors.

Тhe orchestra was the participation in the IV Festival of World's Symphony Orchestras (Moscow, 2009), and I All-Russian symphonic forum (Ekaterinburg, 2010). In 2013 the orchestra had a tour of the cities of Italy.

Discs of the orchestra is realized by the record companies Danacord Record, Universal, Handel Classic Audio, Toccata Classics. Only in the last two years they have released 4 CDs with music of Shebalin, Weinberg, Spretli, Bargiel. Even today the records continue to receive the highest ratings of European critics.
