V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition completes accepting applications from candidates
11 January 2022
The stage of accepting applications for participation in the V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition is nearing completion. It will be held in Omsk from 23 to 30 May 2022. The deadline for submission of applications, according to the Regulation of the competition, expires on January 31, 2022. After which the candidates will have a preliminary selection round based on video recordings of the performances, which will be held by the competition committee.

The names of the participants in the face-to-face rounds of the competition will be announced on February 21, 2022. Each of the musicians will be able to become a contender for the main prize - an old violin made by the Italian master Giulio Degani, which was personally chosen for the winner by the Honorary President of the Competition, People's Artist of the CCCR Vladimir Spivakov.

Recall that the international creative competition was to take place in Omsk in May 2020. By that time, 88 applications from candidates from different parts of the world had been received for participation in the competition. Unfortunately, due to the spread of the coronavirus epidemic, the Organizing Committee of the competition had to decide to postpone the forum, first to the spring of 2021, and then to May 2022. In this connection, the results of the preliminary selection were canceled.

Now the competition is waiting for new talents. Any musician from 9 to 25 years old will be able to try his hand at the violin competition and compete for a unique prize in one of two age categories. To do this, you must have time to make a video recording of the performance of the program for the qualifying round and send it along with the application by January 31, 2022 to the email address or submit an application on the competition website

All applications and videos submitted by participants must comply with the program requirements contained in the Regulations on the V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition. Please note that the competition program for the selection of participants in the younger group was supplemented by one more concert by G. Wieniawski.

The winners will be determined by the international jury of the competition, which will include world-renowned violinists and teachers: Professor of the Vienna University of Music, Professor of the University of Music and Performing Arts of Graz Boris Kuschnir (Austria), accompanist of the Opera Orchestra Carlo Felice Elisabetta Garetti (Italy), Professor of the Central Conservatory Beijing Weidong Tong (China), artist of the Omsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Muralev (Russia). The chairman of the jury is Professor of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, laureate of the USSR State Prize Mikhail Kopelman (USA).
