Violin Competition

The results of the second round of competitive auditions have been summed up in the senior age category

Today, May 27, the second round of competitive auditions in the senior age category took place. Recall that all seven participants of the senior group, who sent materials for participation in the competition in a new remote mode, entered it. According to the regulations, the contestants had to perform one sonata and one miniature of the participant's choice, solo or with piano, as well as a modern piece (from the second half of the 20th century to the present day) with a duration of no more than 12 minutes and a virtuoso piece of the participant's choice. All performers in the senior age category showed excellent skill and performance technique.

Based on the results of reviewing the records of the second round, the jury determined four finalists in the senior group of the competition by a majority of votes. They were a student of the Moscow State Conservatory. P. I. Tchaikovsky Maria Arteeva (Russia), a student of the Austrian Mozarteum University Alexandra Weissbecker (Russia-Germany), a graduate student of the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo Issei Kurihara (Japan) and a graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory. P. I. Tchaikovsky Victoria Tulskaya (Russia).

Recordings of their final competition performances, in which the violinists will present their performance of violin concertos accompanied by piano, we will see tomorrow, May 28, on the competition website: yankelevitch.com. The names of the laureates will be announced on May 29.
