The Governor of the Omsk Region Alexander Burkov signed a decree
on setting new dates for the V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition. The violin competition will be held in 2021 from May 23 to 30. The new dates are agreed with the honorary President of the contest, People's Artist of the CCCR Vladimir Spivakov and officially approved.
Recall that the competition was to be held in Omsk in May of this year. Applications and videos for the qualifying round came from 88 participants from 15 countries. In March, the selection results were announced and the names
of 20 participants of the younger age group (under 15 years old) and 12 participants of the senior age group (15-25 years old) who will be able to take part in face-to-face tours now in 2021, if they do not cross the age threshold, were stipulated by the current Competition Regulation.
At the same time, it is assumed that in connection with the circumstances and the postponement of the competition, an additional set of new applications will be announced from candidates who will be able to take part in the additional qualifying round.
In the V Yankelevitch International Violin Competition contestants of both age categories will be able to compete for the main prize - the violin of the work of the Italian master Giulio Degani and a special prize - bow of the French master Joseph Arthur Vigneron, as well as for cash prizes and scholarships.
The winners will be determined by the international jury of the competition, which includes world-famous violinists and teachers: professor of the University of Music of Vienna, professor of the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz Boris Kushnir (Austria), accompanist of the Orchestra of the Opera Theater Carlo Felice Elizabeth Garetti (Italy), professor of the Manhattan School music, professor of the Toho Gakuen School of Music in Tokyo Koichiro Harada (Japan), professor of the Beijing Central Conservatory Weidong Tong (China), artist of the Omsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, honored artist of the Russian Federation Alexander Muralyov (Russia). The chairman of the jury is Professor of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, USSR State Prize Laureate Mikhail Kopelman (USA).
The grand opening of the competition will take place on May 23, 2021 in the Concert Hall of the Omsk Philharmonic with a concert with the performance of the Siberian Symphony Orchestra and members of the jury.
